Easy and Low Maintenance Office Plants

what are the Easiest Plants to Care for In Your Office

Low Maintenance Plants for Your Office

In 2024, both employees and customers want to know that the companies they put their trust in have sustainable practices. Having plants in the office is an excellent way to brighten the space, purify the air and keep the natural environment at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Here’s how to reap the benefits of plants in the workplace and choose the easiest office plants that will thrive indoors.

What are the Benefits of Having Plants in Your Office?

Wondering what corporate desk plants or hanging plants can do for you at work? A lot! Here are some of the benefits of keeping and caring for plants in your office:

Plants Can Boost Your Mood

Have you ever noticed that a walk in the fresh air can make you feel instantly better, especially if you’re surrounded by trees? You get a similar benefit from being around greenery when you’re stuck indoors. Even minimal exposure to nature, like caring for an office plant, may make you feel calmer.

They Can Help Improve Focus

Employees may find it easier to stay focused in a workspace with natural touches, like plant life. Don’t be surprised if your employees become more productive once plants are within their view!

Plants Filter the Air and Improve Air Quality

Plants act as natural air filters, helping rid the space of toxins and circulating fresh air instead. This is especially important in offices with poor ventilation. After adding a few plants, you may even notice that your employees take fewer sick days.

Best Low-Maintenance Office Plants

You don’t need another job when you’re already at work. That’s why we have eight of the best low-maintenance plants to brighten up your office.

Snake Plant

Hardy and tough, the snake plant doesn’t need a lot of sunlight or water to survive. And if you opt for one on the smaller side, you’ll only have to water it every two weeks or so. Wait until the soil is totally dry before watering — otherwise, root rot can occur.

African Violet

You won’t have to make any special accommodations to have this plant in the office. African violets tend to do well in the same conditions as people, meaning average temperatures and humidity. Plus, any source of light will do, whether it’s natural or fluorescent.

ZZ Plant

You don’t need to water the ZZ plant much, only when the soil’s completely dry, which should be about every two weeks. Put it by the window, enjoy its lovely foliage, and allow yourself to perform minimal maintenance on it.

Pothos Plant

The pothos is ideal for offices with limited space because it makes for an eye-catching hanging plant. They also do fine even in low light and don’t need much watering.

English Ivy

You might not think of a trailing plant as being a good fit for the office, but English ivy can soften an otherwise industrial-looking desk. To stay healthy indoors, this plant needs medium light and an average amount of water. As the tendrils get unwieldy, you can wrap them around a small structure or opt for a dwarf variety if you only have a small space to prettify.

Spider Plant

Want a plant that doubles as a gift for your coworkers? As the spider plant grows, plantlets are produced, which you can put in a pot and give to your office pals. Put them in indirect light and keep the soil a bit moist. An office on the warm side is ideal.

Peace Lily

Both lovely to look at and air-purifying, the peace lily only needs weekly watering, with a few water spritzes in between if the temperature is especially hot. Make sure it’s in a large, bright window that gets lots of indirect light. When your peace lily is healthy, it should have pretty white blooms.

Bamboo Plant

Symbolizing luck and good fortune, bamboo is one of the easiest plants to care for. Put it in rich potting soil and keep it damp, not soaked. As long as it gets a moderate amount of sunlight (indirect light is OK!), it should be just fine.
