How to Clean a Self-Heating Mug?

Are you on kitchen duty this week? Trying to clean up your desk before a long weekend? Make sure to take note on how to clean a temperature-control mug properly before making a regrettable mistake! Skip the dishwasher and get your Ember smart mugs clean and sparkly in no time.

Are Self-Heating Mugs Dishwasher Safe?

No, Ember smart mugs are not dishwasher safe. The continual surging and high water pressure within the dishwasher could eventually damage the sensors and battery technology within the mug.

Can I Submerge my Ember Mug?

Remember the Ember smart mug is not completely waterproof, therefore submerging it for more than a few seconds can allow water to get into the technology within. Don't break your new corporate smart coffee mug, instead if you want to soak your temperature-control mug simply fill it up with water and allow the inside to soak.

How Do You Clean the Outside of an Ember Mug?

Hand wash your custom Ember mug with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Ember recommends using a natural, low-chemical dishwashing soap such as Dawn, Joy, or Meyers.  After washing, dry your mug off completely before placing on the charger.

Once finished cleaning the outside of the Ember mug, use a soft dishtowel to dry off the smart drinkware. With all of the excess liquid wiped away, set the Ember smart mug upside down in a safe place, free from being knocked over. This will allow all of the water that may be in the charging area to evaporate more quickly.

How Do You Clean the Inside of an Ember Mug?

There are several ways that one can wash the inside of a self-heating mug, but one important thing should be repeated, smart mugs are not dishwasher-friendly!

To clean the inside of an Ember mug or a self-heating coffee mug, you may wash your piece out with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. At this time, be sure to not use the abrasive side of the sponge as scratches on the inside can lead to failed technology.

How to Remove Coffee Stains from Ember Mugs?

A great and safe way to clean coffee stains from smart coffee mugs is to use Cafiza. Cafiza is a cleaning powder used in coffee shops and cafes around the world as it is especially good at breaking down the oils and stains of coffee and espresso.

Simply combine 1-2 grams of Cafiza and hot water in your Ember smart mug, let sit for a few minutes, and then rinse out well.

This can also be achieved with a baking soda and hot water mixture, or simply a warm, soapy wash via a sponge. After cleaning away the coffee or tea stains, simply wipe with a soft, dry dishtowel and allow to dry fully before using once again with the charging coaster.
