Save Old Patagonia Items with Worn Wear

Patagonia Worn Wear

The Patagonia Worn Wear Program

The Patagonia brand was founded on sustainability. Back in the 70s, when the company was still small and new, the team began investing money and resources in environmental protection, saving local ecosystems from harmful construction and cleaning up rivers. The brand’s founder, Yvon Chouinard, built the outdoor gear company from nothing, fueled by his love for climbing, camping, and exploring nature. Chouinard and his team have been taking action and making real change since the beginning. Even as he stepped down from the company, Chouinard gave the entire company to a nonprofit organization so that the brand could continue protecting the environment.

The Patagonia brand is focused on getting as many people as possible to take action. Their Patagonia Action Works program was created to connect people to environmental organizations, groups, and individuals who are working to protect land, water, communities, and biodiversity. Patagonia Action Works offers contacts and opportunities to find events to join, petitions to sign, and like-minded individuals to meet.

Patagonia chases after sustainability in all aspects of business. The vast majority brand’s raw materials are responsibly sourced and organically grown. Patagonia gear is made using recycled materials and renewable resources that can be safely farmed, like hemp. Additionally, Patagonia’s supply chain utilizes factories that promote fair labor, ensuring fair compensation and safe working conditions for employees. Not only does the brand protect the planet, but its hardworking people, too.

What is Patagonia’s Worn Wear Program?

Patagonia apparel and gear is built to last. But now old, used, and even damaged Patagonia products can live beyond their lifespan! The Patagonia Worn Wear program recycles and resells used Patagonia products. 85% of clothing finds its way to the landfill, and the Worn Wear program prevents needless waste. Recycling products also reduces overconsumption from manufacturing new pieces. Customers are able to trade in and buy used Patagonia gear! Not only can you trade in and shop Worn Wear pieces, but their prices are discounted, and you’ll earn Patagonia credit for sending in your used Patagonia gear.

Are My Items Too Damaged for Patagonia Worn Wear?

Patagonia apparel was created for rugged outdoor adventures and hard work, so your used Patagonia gear may have gotten a bit worn along the way. Items with heavy damage can’t be traded in, but they will be recycled responsibly. If your products have holes, heavy fading, broken parts, or any other damage detailed on this list, they aren’t eligible for Worn Wear.

Dirty or stained items are also ineligible for the Worn Wear program. If your pieces have excessive pet hair, heavy debris, or stains, they won’t be accepted.
